Weekend For Two

Happy birthday to Mr. Schalk! You know, he still makes me laugh, still dares me to dream and everyday that I wake up next to him is another day I thank God for this beautiful life that we are making together. We have shared so much in the years since we first fell in love. There is something special when you grow up and grow old(er) together. Getting married young is not for everyone, but it is for us. I can't imagine wanting to walk beside anyone else in this journey of life. I feel like we are just beginning this great adventure yet have so many years of memories already.

We had a little birthday bash this past weekend in Chicago. It was quite wonderful, to say the least. It is easy to forget each other in the midst of changing diapers, feeding the dog and hustling off to work. It was nice to get away to the city. A familiar city but still a different change of pace. It is amazing how much more one appreciates times like these when they are few and far between. Let me tell you even though we missed Cricket like crazy we appreciated each and every second of our Weekend For Two. These pictures may not hold much value to the outsider looking in, but to us they are a weekend of memories we will hold dear for a long time to come. Sweet, funny, grown up memories.

Happy birthday to my college love, my best friend, a wild man with a heart of gold. To the man who can fix anything, learn anything and still be as humble as can be. To the daddy of our little girl who literally lights up and dances when her da-da walks into the room. To my husband. I adore you Mr. Schalk. I secretly light up and dance when you walk into a room, too. I am so glad you were born!
