Dear Cricket: Nine Months

Dear Cricket,

Here we are again! Happy Birthday! Nine months, can you believe it? You have had such a great month. You seem to have transformed into a little girl over night. Don't get me wrong, you are still our sweet baby, but your personality is really shining through these days. You are so curious about the world around you. You shake your sweet head to music and turn at the ring of a phone or the call of your name. It is pretty darn cute! The world is yours to explore and you are having a grand time of it!

We are getting into the holiday season and your daddy and I are beyond excited to share old traditions and start new ones with you. We have had the Christmas music playing for a few weeks and you are loving it. This week we'll celebrate Thanksgiving and then the Christmas fun will really start. Yippee!

You spend a good portion of your day standing up. You love to coast from table to chair. You are an expert crawler, but we all say you'd walk if you could figure out how. You stand at your activity table all day long, walking around and reaching down to grab toys, never seeming to tire of standing up like a big girl.

Cricket, you are such a fantastic little girl! You are easy going yet full of spunk. You love your daddy and are still sticking to "da-da" as your main word of choice. You also love your Bonnie dog. Bonnie is warming up and you two have been chasing each other around every night for the past week. She sure makes you giggle!

You still have the most gorgeous blue eyes and your hair is growing in a pretty light brown. You are such a bright little girl. Your dad and I swear we can see the wheels in your head turn as you grasp the world around you. You love puppies, your dolly and yogurt melts. And, I love you!

I love snuggling you close to me and kissing your neck. I love those rare but beautiful moments when you fall asleep on my shoulder. I love the look you give your daddy and me when you have done something wonderful and we clap in agreement. I love the look on your face when we try to get you to do something you are not quite sure of like putting your hands in the air (the "you guys are crazy" look). I love the way you smell and the way you snuggle after bath time. I love that you are a determined little baby who is not afraid to go after what you want...usually a dog toy or computer cord...I'm sorry you don't get your way on those. You'll thank me later. Most of all, I love that God has given us the honor to be your parents. What a joy it is to see you grow and learn and love each day. You are the best!
