Dear Cricket: Six Months

Dear Cricket,

Every month seems to go by more quickly than the last and here we are at your half birthday. What a sweet six months it's been! This month included your first taste of solid foods including cereal, sweet potatoes, peas and squash. You still love your mama's milk best, but are quite excited over your veggies, too. You squeal and shake with delight in your high chair, especially when sweet potatoes are on the menu. Yum!

That grin continues to capture us more and more each day. You are a happy baby full of curiosity and fast hands that want to grab (& taste!) everything in sight. These days you are active, interesting and full of wonder. You love watching Bonnie and try earnestly to "pet" her at each opportunity. You also thoroughly enjoy your Sophie, Baby Sophie, rattles and now that you have grown a wee bit your Jenny Jump Up. Your favorite toy, however, are your...

...toes!

Oh, how you love your piggies! Your dad and I also fancy them, kissing them every chance we get. You love grabbing your feet, tasting your toes and standing up while we hold your hands and cheer you on. Being around you is such a joy! Even when we are all sleepy or having a bad day one smile from you turns it all around. God did such a good job when he made you and truly blessed us beyond words for the honor of being your parents.

This month you are celebrating your birthday on vacation. That's right, your very first vacation! We have had the pleasure of showing you all the beauty of Mackinac Island and Higgins Lake for a whole week. You missed your bed but had a ball going on boat rides, gazing at horses, smiling at friendly passerbys and being an overall cutie!

You are so adorable and growing like a weed, little one. I am head over heels in love with you and your spunky personality. The love in your eyes when you see your daddy, the way you laugh at everything from running water to the wind in your face, and your sheer joy for life. These are the best days of my life and I thank God for each and every day with you and your daddy.
