Dear Cricket,

Happy two month birthday sweetheart! I can hardly believe you are already two months old. It seems like just yesterday you were just two weeks old. My, my...how quickly you have turned from a newborn into a happy bouncy baby. You smile, kick your legs and make the most adorable baby sounds now. Especially, when you see your mama and daddy and your mobile animals. You love those guys! You are filling out in all the right spots. It is beyond adorable! I just can't get enough of your baby rolls and soft skin. You are so snuggley and kissable...sigh...I just love you to pieces!

I laugh that you are “stuck” with me as your mama since I have such limited knowledge of all things baby related. From the invention of gas drops to turning off the brake on your stroller…it’s all new to me. I don't know the lyrics to most lullaby's but I am a pro at making up my own. Praying for God's wisdom is certainly paying off. You are a very content and happy baby.

I may not be a baby expert, but there are some things for which I am more than certain. The immense knock-a-mountain-over love I have for you is beyond comprehension. It is a pure, unbridled love straight from the beautiful hand of God. I had no idea my heart could feel like this. I heard others talk about it, but I had no basis for understanding. I now know, and can only imagine this is the start of a love that will grow deeper and wider with each new day together. I have a deep down yearning to show you the beauty of the world…to fight for you and protect you when the need arises…to share in the joy of your youth as a fellow child of God…to marvel in your personality already shining through. Your smile melts me into a huge puddle of heart bursting joy. Your cries make me draw you close and that twinkle in your eye is unmatched by any star in the sky. You are the greatest thing to happen to your daddy and me.

Another month has gone by and I continue to marvel at you. You are learning and soaking in all kinds of new sights, sounds and experiences. Your daddy and I wonder aloud about what your interests may be as your grow up. We hope you will enjoy cooking with us and playing outside. Of course, the world is your oyster and your dreams can take you anywhere your heart leads you. It is an honor to watch you grow. These last two months have been full of learning, loving and living. What a blessing to have you in our lives. We love you inside and out, little one!

Love always, Mama

  1. Beautiful Rachel! And keeping this blog as a journal will be one of the greatest treasures of your life! I know, because I did it...on baby calendars for 2 years - because that was BEFORE internet! Can you believe it!!
(When I told Chickie she was older than the internet, at least older than it being in everyone's home...she was flabbergasted! She'll be 19 this month...)
    Cricket is darlingly wonderful!
